FAQ / Nudity Detection

How does this differ from Skin Detection?

Skin Detection is a flawed approach as it will incorrectly flag images of faces, hands, arms or people at the beach as being Nude images. Our approach was designed to be smarter.

The other issue with Skin Detection is that it mostly works by recognizing pixels having a specific color. Which easily leads to false negatives due to things like sand, wood, walls etc having a skin-like color.

Finally, skin detection will not properly account for different levels of nudity. From safe images, to slightly suggestive, moderately suggestive, highly suggestive and explicit images.
